About CCMP

Coalition of Concerned Medical Professionals (CCMP) is an entirely volunteer, private membership association of health professionals, educators, students, business leaders and others joined together to fight for comprehensive healthcare.

Since our founding in 1973, we have remained independent and free of government funding, in order to challenge government healthcare policies that deny people medically directed care and a healthy life. CCMP began over 50 years ago as an effort to advance the just cause of Long Island’s farm workers, who labored at low pay with no health benefits, and we grew as the fight for comprehensive healthcare for all grew in metropolitan New York and throughout the nation.

CCMP’s programs stand as an example of how much could be accomplished if we had a health system that was not profit-driven, made services available to those most in need, and did not deny access to health care due to one’s income, job standing, gender, ethnicity or age. CCMP is dedicated to the fight for healthcare as a right, not a costly privilege.

CCMP member health professionals run a free-of-charge preventive healthcare benefit program for uninsured and low-paid workers, as well as members of labor organizations, community groups, congregations and other allied associations.

The benefit program includes both preventive medical care at general medical sessions and non-emergency dental care provided by volunteer member dentists and dental specialists in their offices at general dental sessions. CCMP member health professionals also run medical education and information sessions on topics of concern to benefit recipients such as diabetes, hypertension, health & nutrition and more. CCMP benefits also include advocacy to fight denials of care from insurance companies, responsible government agencies or healthcare-related bill expungement. Join us! Volunteers urgently needed!

-General medical sessions: CCMP volunteer physicians, nurses with the help of certified volunteer medical advocates provide primary and preventive medical services at general medical sessions

-General dental sessions: Volunteer drivers and certified volunteer dental advocates accompany uninsured CCMP benefit recipients to general dental sessions where non-emergency dental treatments are provided at no charge by CCMP volunteer dentists and dental hygienists.

-Specialist Care: CCMP dental specialists provide restorative dental care at endodontic and periodontal sessions. Participating dental labs donate the needed supplies to rebuild mouths and boost health outcomes. Volunteer endocrinologists reduce A1C levels, podiatrists restore mobility and more.

-Advocacy: CCMP volunteer advocates expunge medical bills amounting to tens of thousands of dollars, fight denials of care from insurance corporations and government agencies and lead benefit intakes to schedule benefit recipients to dental and medical sessions as well as coordinate follow-up care.

-Medical Education: Health professional volunteers lead Medical Education and Information Sessions on topics of concern for CCMP benefit recipients.
